IT'S A FREEBIE!!!!!!!

Post 7

The ASSURE Model: to Analyze learners; State objectives; Select instructional methods, media, and materials; Utilize media and materials; Require learner participation; Evaluate and revise. It's an instructional system design for teachers to use in their classrooms. The ISD is something that teachers can benefit from by helping them build their lesson plans as well as the integration of media learning within the classroom.

Since class we played catch up and also worked on power points. I'm already familiar with power points so it just refreshed my memory. I did learn about the "Master Slide" and how by designing that one slide it saves me the trouble of designing every slide after it. This was very helpful! I also became more familiar with the "transition" format between slides, this can be very confusing! It seems so much simple when you go through slides, but when you are actually creating the power point it's very tedious!

I plan to use power points in my teaching career because I believe it's a new way of educating children. I think that they will get bored doing the same thing everyday, so by adding power points it mixes it up a bit. Obviously we have to be aware of what we put on the power points because some children are easily stimulated and this can become distracting.

Digital Media is a pretty interesting thing. The book mentioned the new "digital age". It's funny because I remember thinking when was younger and imagining that in the future we would be like the Jetson's. Well digital media has definatly advanced, but I wouldn't consider us the Jetson's just yet. A a future educator I plan to use power points and create web pages for the parents. Although I will be teaching second grade, I think that the use of power point is way more exciting than just using a chalk board. As a teacher for elementary school students we have to remember that we are almost seen as entertainers. Thinking of different ways to teach the children and keepingthem captivated enough to learn the material. This is why I think CBT (Computer Based Training) is an interesting new way of learning for children.

This the last class I learned about to create web pages. I think this is very useful because it becomes more accessible to parents. They don't have to worry if Johnny lost the news letter on the way home. Although I must say that I did have some difficulties creating the page, I did find it very useful.

Extra Stuff: I hope technology can become a bit more simplified because I am definately not a computer person!

*God Bless*

Ch. 7

Chapter 7 is being skipped with permission.

Another blog......

Chapter 2 was about the world wide web and its communication networks. It mentioned webpages and how they get personalized it also mentioned different search engines as well. How these serch engines may be useful in future classrooms. This chapter also discussed easier ways to look up information on the web, without getting bombarded with useless information.

Something I learned this week was about iGoogle and how it's like your personal version of Google. We also discussed briefly about this virtual reality world that I found pretty interesting yet weird at the same time.

Nothing really going on for me this week, I volunteer at a school like I mentioned before, and those kids keep me entertained. I will be doing a lesson soon on the human body and I'm doing a lesson on the senses. So these teacher sites like TeacherVision.com have helped me a lot. They gave me ideas and activites I can do with them. So that's pretty much it.........

Chapter 4 Blog....

Chapter 4 is titled Hardware for Education. This chapter discussed the basic parts of the computer; such as the PC. It also went on to talk about storage/ memory, the input and output devices. Examples of these would be the keyboard, the mouse, speakers, etc. The memory of a computer is important because it also helps the speed of your computer as well.As a future teacher, I found this chapter to be a little important just because it familiarized me again with the components of a computer.

This week we learned about concept mapping. I enjoyed this lesson because it gave me another idea I can do with my future students. Inspiration is a neat tool to use, not only as a teacher, but with your students as well. Using Inspiration I learned a lot and it is a very creative tool.

This week nothing interesting really happened. I've just been volunteering and doing school work. I am looking forward to Thanksgiving break, because I'm going to Michigan to visit my sister. We are going to have Thanksgiving for the first time in her new home. Aside from that, that's the only thing going on right now.

CH,1 blogg....

This chapter is a bit boring...... Not a good way to start off the chapter, since this book did cost $115.00!!!!! I was hoping for pop ups or something!! J/K.. Anywho, chapter one discussed the lovely world of computers and its componets such as networks, the internet, and ofcoarse ARCS. Chapter one also discussed how computers can be used hand in hand with education. For example, for research, bloggs,to develop personality and thinking skills.

Since the last class I really did not acquire any new skills, only because my weeks have been a little bit out of whack... I missed class on September the 11th, because my grandpa passed away, so to be honest, school work was the last thing on my mind. I've just been catching up and that's why my bloggs may be a bit out of order (Sorry).

One of my future plan is to teach second grade. I would like to teach first then get my masters (Hopefully a school can pay for it). If all goes well, I would like to become a college professor for the college of Human Sciences. Once I have taught in a university for a couple of years I would like to publish children books, and a guide for parents on the topic of communication. As my closing chapter in my life, I would love to build a school in an impovrished community. So many dreams and hopefully I will be blessed to accomplish all of them!

Blog 2

The websites that I found was one called "The Lesson Plan Page", I found this site to be very useful for teachers especially beginning teachers. This website provides new idea and activities teachers can do with their students. It has over 1000 FREE lesson plans in several subject areas that teachers can incorporate in their classroom. Not only does this website provides lesson plans, but teacher inspirational stories as well as ideas for school fundraisers. This website is a teacher's best friend!! Another website that I found interesting and useful was "Lessons Using Technology". This website is good for students to research and look for info for school projects. It puts a twist on research and it keeps students entertainted.

For the newsletter, I usually do it on MicrosofT Publisher, so since I did it on Microsoft Word it took a bit longer. Publisher has the templates already set up for newsletters so all you have to do it fill in the text boxes. On Microsoft Word it took a bit longer to format, but all in all it got the job done.

Kidspiration is a cool site for students. This site is great for visual learners like myself. It combines pictures, texts, and audio for the "organization of ideas". This site is a great tool to use inside and outside of class. I would incorporate this website in my future classroom.

Assignment #1

My prior experience with technology is pretty vague.... I'm really not into all the high tech "stuff". Growing up my family was not able to afford a computer until I was in middle school. As I got older I've learned to use the computer for leisure, banking, shopping, and school work.
What I hope to learn in this class is how to incorporate technology into my future classroom. I would like to learn more about using power point, and outlook. I will also like to learn more about incorporating technology into my classroom. Although I will be dealing with second graders, I will like them to be more exposed to technology, than I was.
What I learned about blogs is how they work and their purpose. I was able to start my own blog. I'm starting to realize that I want to be more exposed to technology, so I will be able to keep up with my future students and they don't think of me as a dinosaur when it regards technology. What I learned about my learning style is that I'm a bit in the middle. I noticed that I'm pretty balanced, which is unusual. The test also showed that I'm more of a visual person versus anything else.
